The dominant projects heading into the era of machine agency — the race to AGI, positioning for national dominance, techno-acceleration — are defined by opposition rather than vision. This program trains a different kind of leader: one equipped to assess not only whether a claim is true but whether the framework generating the claim is adequate to the phenomenon, and to build alternatives when it is not. ### Four modules 1. **Character Formation & Visionary Leadership** — Cultivating the moral reasoning and metacognitive skill required to see beyond the dominant framings of the era. 2. **Key Leverage Points in HBI and NMA** — Concrete entry points where the frameworks of Horizons of Biological Intelligence and Naturalizing Machine Agency reshape decision-making. 3. **Scientific Administration & Institutional Influence** — How research priorities, capital allocation, and infrastructure are actually decided — and how to operate generatively within those systems. 4. **Capstone Project** — A substantive piece of work that transforms learning into institutional action. ### Timeline - **Launching:** August 2027 (accredited by the Malta Further and Higher Education Authority through Woolf University) - **Applications open:** September 2026 --- ## Scholarly Community — New Science Series, Vol. 1 URL: https://thedivinityschool.endemic.org/community The Divinity School's New Science Series, Volume 1 is a scholarly anthology by twenty authors on **The Horizons of Biological Intelligence (HBI)** and **Naturalizing Machine Agency (NMA)** — with a public editorial process. The volume is organized around four tensions the fields must navigate as they mature: the interpretive gap between measurement and meaning; the FAST framework (Fidelity, Actionability, Scope, Tractability); the OntoEdit ladder of ontological revision; and the practical work of aligning machine agency with biological intelligence rather than substituting for it. Contributors span philosophy, cognitive science, evolutionary biology, AI, systems design, and institutional governance. Pre-orders are open now; the volume ships in the first half of 2026. Two tracks: - **Horizons of Biological Intelligence** — Intelligence as it actually exists in living systems: cells, tissues, organisms, ecosystems, cultures — so we don't mistake mimicking intelligence for automating it. - **Naturalizing Machine Agency** — How artificial minds and socio-technical systems can be designed and governed so machine agency supports rather than undermines biological and cultural intelligence.
